WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr. Liu has years of rich experiences in performing excellent scientific and engineering research and practicing engineering in various interdisciplinary areas, including interfacial properties of materials, asphalt concrete durability, cement based concrete strength, mass concrete, massive use of recycled materials, long term rehabilitation of roads, distress development on pavement surfaces, driver-vehicle-road dynamic interactions, pavement management systems, geometric design of roads, signal timing for controlled intersections, intermodal studies, urban planning, vehicle emission, forecast of transportation activities, chaotic motion of electrons in the geomagnetic field, nonlinear dynamical systems, and quantized charge transport devices. Prior joining the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in Villanova University, he was working for California DOT as a material/corrosion engineer, performing research on mass concrete, beam bending, sand-jack failure concerning future construction of the San Francisco-Bay Bridge. Currently, he is involved with composite/construction material characterization and characterization of large scale infrastructure systems.
